TRIFID Medical Group, LLC. Establishes Internet Presence

Medical device product development aims to build hot new cost-saving tools for respiratory, anesthesiology, and critical care providers.

Tuesday, May 1, 2001 St. Louis, Missouri USA

The formation of TRIFID Medical Group, LLC., was announced today as a new limited liability corporation set on forming partnerships with respiratory, anesthesiology, and critical care innovators to demonstrate technical and commercial feasibility of their cost-saving medical device ideas.

"Unlike other consulting and service firms who specialize in one aspect of medical device development," says Robert Virag, principal of TRIFID Medical Group, "the company connects all the elements necessary to fully commercialize enterprising new ideas."

Beginning with early consultations and joint research with inventors, the firm organizes a full product development team of related specialists to move the idea down the commercialization pathway.

Inventors, mostly clinicians frustrated with the shortcomings of current medical devices and with better answer to the problems they face, are guided through the   product develop process to first patent and protect their ideas.

Market surveys are then organized to test the soundness of the idea from a commercial perspective.

With the inventors help, financing is arranged for further development.  This may include combinations of public, private, and government financing, including, but not limited to SBIR grants, venture partners, and the inventor's personal partners.

A LLC. limited liability corporation is formed to govern the new enterprise so work can begin to build prototypes and test the technical, clinical, and commercial feasibility of the idea.

Regulatory submissions are then prepared and submitted for approval, paving the way for market clearance in the country most closely tied to the potential market.

Contract designers and manufacturers are organized to design and build the final device and manufacture in a small start-up environment.

Finally, existing medical device distributors are organized to introduce the product into the market place.  Most ideas commercialize slowly, but after a year or two, a commercial track record is established to provide the financial justification needed to attract major investors, like the giant medical device makers.

The underlying premise of TRIFID Medical Group is that large medical device suppliers have too much invested in current technologies to take serious notice of revolutionary ideas.  "Only when these next generation technologies actually begin to threaten the under-pinning of the current technologies, will the giants sit up and take notice", says Virag.  "Successful commercialization of revolutionary ideas in the incubator environment TRIFID Medical group offers allows the technical risk to become clearly manageable and understood.  When this is accomplished we can begin intellectual property acquisition discussions with the key business development decision makers in large medical device firms."
